ECU Worldwide has appointed Dr. Philip Blumenthal as its Chief Transformation Officer. He will work closely with Vaishnav Shetty, Executive Director, ECU Worldwide, and focus on the digital transformation of the organization.
A Ph.D. in Logistics, Dr. Blumenthal is a logistics industry veteran and a strong sales and business process professional. Having held a variety of executive roles in Germany and the United States, Philip is regarded as a thought leader in the international logistics space. As a seasoned C-level executive, Philip will help ECU Worldwide in strengthening the global brand through tactical digital as well as business strategies.

In his previous roles, Philip has been instrumental in building the ‘Freightos Baltic Index’ which is the world’s largest freight index with live, bookable quotes for containers with 80 million daily price points. With technology emerging at the forefront of the new normal, Philip’s experience which cuts across digitalization and logistics will prove to be an asset. Prior to that he was part of the core team creating the Freightos Marketplace.
Strengthening the team further, Ian McCarthy, previously serving as director of ECU Worldwide UK has also been promoted to drive the Digital Transformation at ECU Worldwide. In his previous role, Ian has been managing all the sales and commercial aspects of the business at ECU Worldwide UK. He has also effectively led the team at UK to implement a number of processes and strategies to accelerate digital adoption among customers. As a result of his knack for identifying opportunities, ECU Worldwide UK has seen considerable volume and business growth through digital channels.
In his new role, Ian will work with the digital transformation team and manage sales enablement as well as accelerate the adoption of digital tools and services among internal and external stakeholders. Creating and implementing an effective feedback mechanism to the product team to enable customer-centric modifications and value-additions will form an integral part of his core responsibilities.
